Inspired by both a name and a meaning, ASA nods to Asa Mercer—our island’s namesake—and the Yoruba word àsà, meaning “to convene, gather, and exchange energy.” We honor that duality by creating a space where stories are shared, ideas exchanged, and community comes alive.
Founded by Howard and Harper—friends, Harvard grads, and longtime Island locals—ASA was born from a shared love of soulful spaces, good coffee, and unforgettable cocktails. It’s a neighborhood refuge with speakeasy charm, where a warm greeting, a perfectly balanced drink, or a quiet moment on the patio might just leave you feeling seen—maybe for the first time all week.
